The Department of Foreign Languages, comprising the English Preparatory Unit and the Modern Languages Unit, plays a central role in supporting students’ academic journeys by providing high-quality foreign language education. The department is responsible for designing and implementing education programs that equip students with the necessary language skills to succeed in their departmental studies, access and interpret information, and communicate effectively in different academic and professional contexts. Its mission is to ensure that all Turkish and international students can benefit from foreign language learning to the fullest extent, while its vision is to provide education aligned with international standards and the university’s overarching goals. Education is delivered through student-centered, interactive, and innovative approaches that foster critical and creative thinking, lifelong learning strategies, and learner autonomy. Programs focus on developing the four basic language skills, along with grammar, through in-class and extracurricular activities, digital applications, and collaborative learning environments. Continuous improvement is achieved through systematic reviews, feedback, and integration of research and technological advancements. The department also places strong emphasis on the professional development of its lecturers, offering training and support to sustain high-quality and contemporary language education.
