General Information
The Çankaya University Department of Foreign Languages offers foreign language education through its two main units: The English Preparatory Unit and the Modern Languages Unit.
English Preparatory Unit programs provide English foreign language education before the undergraduate programs to candidate students enrolled in university programs the medium of instruction of which is English, but who scored below the level required for the foreign language proficiency exam, the purpose of which is to provide students with the knowledge, skills and self-confidence required for business life and social environments and to follow professional learning resources, scientific and technological developments during their undergraduate/associate degree education. To this end, students follow the educational programs that will lead them to the preparatory education exit level (B2) by commencing their education from the English proficiency levels determined by the students’ initial Placement Exam.
Students in both departments are enabled to monitor and use professional books, scientific and technological developments at an international level, and to establish effective language communication required in the sociocultural field.
The Modern Languages Unit programs and implements both compulsory and elective foreign language courses for students enrolled in Associate and Undergraduate programs at our University. In addition to compulsory and elective English courses, the Modern Languages Unit enables our students also to learn an additional foreign language with the elective courses offered in German, French, Russian, Italian and Spanish.
Both our units offer foreign language education at modern standards with qualified staff consisting of both Turkish and foreign lecturers who effectively use technology, adopt teamwork as well as the appropriate physical and technological infrastructure for language teaching, language laboratories in addition to printed and digital resource archives.
